After the sale
The sale doesn’t end when you get paid. What happens next decides whether that customer comes back, recommends you or badmouths you.
Deliver what you promised
It’s the most important thing. If you said two weeks, deliver in two weeks. If you’re going to be late, warn them before, not after.
Ask for reviews and referrals
- When the customer is happy, ask for a review on Google or your social media. Most will do it if you ask simply.
- Ask: “Do you know anyone it could help?” A referral is the easiest, cheapest sale there is.
When something goes wrong
- Reply fast and without excuses.
- Apologise for what you did wrong and offer a solution.
- A problem solved well builds more trust than a sale with no problems.
A happy customer tells a few people. An angry one tells everyone, and now they write it online too. Look after those who’ve already bought from you.
