What destroys a brand
A reputation takes years to build and can break in a day. These are the most common mistakes.
Lying about resultsMaking up income, showing fake screenshots or exaggerating. Sooner or later it comes out.
Buying followersEmpty numbers that don’t buy, don’t comment and that apps detect.
Selling smokePromoting things you wouldn’t use yourself, just because you’re paid.
Copying gurusThe “I have it all and you’re a failure” tone attracts the wrong people.
Public fightsArguing with everyone in the comments. What’s posted online stays.
DisappearingPosting a lot for two weeks and then nothing for three months. Consistency is the brand.
If you’re paid to promote something
In Spain, advertising has to be recognisable as advertising: if a brand pays you or gives you something to show it, you must say so clearly (for example, with “ad” at the start). Hiding it is misleading advertising and costs you credibility.
Comparing yourself
Comparing yourself with someone who’s been at it 5 years when you’ve been at it 5 weeks is the fastest way to quit. Compare yourself with who you were three months ago.
The golden rule: only post what you wouldn’t mind your family, a client or your future boss seeing.
