What reselling is and what you can resell
Reselling is buying something below its value and selling it at a fair price. You make the money when you buy: if you buy well, selling is easy.
Where the price gap is
HurryPeople moving house or needing money now who sell below value.
Bad listingDark photos, odd title or no description: hardly anyone sees it and the price drops.
They don’t know what they haveAn old console, a professional tool, limited-edition trainers.
BundlesBuying several things together and selling them separately.
Easy fixesChanging a screen, a deep clean, a missing part.
Place and seasonWhat’s in surplus in one place or season sells better in another.
What usually works to start
- Phones and consoles: they sell fast, but you need to know how to check them (and watch out for stolen ones).
- Tools: high demand and people who don’t know what they’re worth.
- Branded clothes and trainers: good margin, but beware of fakes.
- Small furniture, bikes, scooters: collected in person, no shipping.
Better avoid at first
- Things you can’t check are working.
- Expensive luxury goods: that’s where most fakes are.
- Anything without receipt or box when the price is “too good”.
Choose one category you like and learn its prices inside out. Whoever knows what a 128 GB iPhone 13 with 85% battery is worth makes money; whoever buys “stuff in general” loses it.
