Do the maths

Business calculator

Enter your costs, your price and the customers you expect. You’ll see how many customers a day you need not to lose money, how much you’d earn per month and how long it would take to recover your investment. Start from one of the examples and adapt it to your case.

Start from an example

Example numbers. Change them to your own. Income tax is not included.

Start-up investmentEverything you spend before opening, including the cushion: building work, furniture, machines, deposit, permits and stock.
Other fixed costsPower, water, gas, internet, insurance, accountant, software, alarm, fees. Add them all up: they’re always more than they seem.
Without VATIf you charge €18.15 including VAT, enter €15. You pay the VAT to the tax office every quarter.
Cost per saleWhat the product or material for each sale costs you: 8–10% in a barbershop, 30% in a bar, 45-50% in a shop or for parts.
Be realisticIn the first months you’ll have fewer customers than you think. Try with half and see if you can hold on.
What isn’t includedIncome tax, your holidays, slow months and the higher contribution when the flat rate ends.
Everything is explained with examples in the lesson The numbers of a business.
