Building the shop

Building the shop is the easy part. The hard part is getting someone to visit and buy. Even so, a badly made shop makes ads useless.

What it costs (prices in Spain, before VAT)

Shopify Basic: €32/month (€24/month if you pay for the whole year)
Card payments (Shopify Payments): 2.1% + €0.30 per sale
If you use another payment provider: Shopify charges an extra 2%
.com or .es domain: about €10-15 a year
Apps (reviews, upsell…): €0 to €50/month. Start with the free ones.

Alternatives: WooCommerce (WordPress; cheaper, but more technical and you pay for hosting) or selling on marketplaces like TikTok Shop, Amazon or eBay, which have their own rules and fees.

What your shop needs

  • Real photos and videos of the product (ideally yours, with the sample).
  • An honest description: size, materials, what’s included and what isn’t.
  • Real delivery time and clear shipping costs from the start.
  • Contact details that work: email and, if you can, WhatsApp.

Mandatory pages in Spain

Legal noticeWho sells: name or company, tax ID, address and email. A shop that sells can’t be anonymous (LSSI law).
Terms of saleTotal price, shipping, delivery times, payment methods, guarantee.
Returns14-day right of withdrawal, how to use it and a model form.
Privacy and cookiesWhat data you collect and why. A cookie banner if you use ad pixels.
Note the point above: if you sell, your name or your company’s name has to appear on the website. If you don’t want your name to show, the legal way is to set up a company (an SL), not to hide it.
