Volume, moving averages and RSI

Volume

The bars at the bottom of the chart. They show how much was traded in each candle. A rise with high volume is more reliable than one with little: it means lots of people are behind it.

Moving averages (EMA)

Lines that show the average price of the last candles, to smooth out the noise. On the Crypto page you have the EMA 21 (fast) and the EMA 55 (slow).

Bullish crossoverEMA 21 (fast)EMA 55 (slow)
  • Price above the averages → uptrend. Below → downtrend.
  • When the fast one crosses above the slow one it’s a bullish crossover; below, a bearish crossover.
  • Averages lag behind: they confirm, they don’t predict.

RSI

An indicator from 0 to 100 that measures the strength of recent rises and falls. You’ll find it on the Stocks charts.

70 · overbought30 · oversold
  • Above 70: overbought. It has risen a lot and fast; it may pull back.
  • Below 30: oversold. It has fallen a lot; it may bounce.
In a strong trend the RSI can stay overbought for weeks while the price keeps rising. No indicator works on its own.
